Summary of a Critical Response (#7)

I chose the one by Percy Bysshe Shelley written in 1817. He starts out by asking questions like "what could have been the series of thoughts?" or "What could have been the peculiar experiences that awakened them?" He later goes on to say that the novel has powerful and profound emotion. In the short essay Shelley briefly goes over how feelings of the human mind are exposed to view.

I think he responded to it differently than I did. He found many different things then I did not find or understand. I learned a little from the article. I didn't fully understand everything the author was talking about, but I got the main idea. I don't think this would make for a good article for me to use in Essay  #3.

Article on Percy Shelley

  1. Hi Joe,

I can see how this would not be a helpful article to you if you didn’t get a clear understanding from reading. I had a different view from yours though. I found to understand this article a bit better than the other three that we had to read. I feel that Percy Shelley went more in depth with certain quotes in the story and the connections that where made throughout the storyline itself. Percy was asking continuous questions throughout his article and this is where people may agree or disagree with what he may be asking or didn’t see the questions for themselves when they were reading Frankenstein. This may or may not have caused your miss connection with the article.

  2. If you didn't understand Shelly's article I would definitely use a different one. I totally understand because there are many times I read things and ask myself, what is this person trying to say? If you find one that interested you more or made your mind wonder, that would probably be a good one to use. Good Luck on your essay!

  3. Hopefully you find an article that makes sense it took me a couple readings before I found one that I could somewhat relate to it! I am finding the reading basically impossible for me. It's nothing I like or enjoy so it's very hard for me to understand things. So I can completely understand! Hopefully this third essay wont be to hard!!

  4. I chose this same response. I actually found that my response is similar to his so far. There must have been certain emotions that motivated such a story. I don't think this will help much on the essay either. Good post. Good luck on the essay.
